Office Staff

Mrs Louise Higham - Bursar

Teaching Staff

Mrs Julie Goodwin - Headteacher

I first came to Barton St Lawrence School as Acting Headteacher in September 2007. The intention was that I should return to my own school and my own post as Deputy Headteacher once a permanent headteacher had been appointed. However, I quickly fell in love with the place and applied for the permanent position. I was delighted to be appointed to the substantive post in January 2008 and have been here ever since!

The school was very different then with only three classrooms and 52 pupils. Since then our number on roll has more than tripled, we have seven classrooms, a nursery and breakfast and after school club. The school may be considerably different but I love it just as much today as I did all those years ago!

Though I am largely office-based now, I am still passionate about teaching and I aim to get into class as often as I can. This includes covering lessons for teachers who have appointments or are on a course, accompanying class trips and leading worship. You will find me out on the school yard with the children before school each morning. I also enjoy attending PTFA events and am an active member of the PTFA Committee.

When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my granddaughters, Annabelle and Bea, and walking my dog. I also enjoy travelling, gardening, playing the flute, knitting and sewing.

Mrs Kate Rogerson - Reception Class Teacher

I have been teaching Reception here at Barton St Lawrence since 2013 and I love being part of such a fun and vibrant school community. I really enjoy teaching the youngest children in the school and helping them to settle in to their school life.

I currently co-ordinate Science, Computing and Early Years and often run clubs after school helping the children to develop their skills in these areas. I also run the Barton Beat singing group on a Friday lunchtime. We perform in church every third Sunday of the month and the singers are BRILLIANT.

Please pop over to the EYFS page to see what we have been doing in class recently and for a run down of our recent topics.

Mrs Lorraine Blackett - Year 1 Class Teacher

I have taught in Key Stage 1 for a number of years and I have been teaching at St Lawrence in Year 1 since September 2014. I thoroughly enjoy teaching at St Lawrence, it is a privilege to work with fantastic children and staff on a daily basis.

I am Subject Leader for History and Geography.

I also co-ordinate AGT and have successfully met with cluster schools to complete a STEM project for AGT children across Key Stage 2.

I enjoy teaching all areas of our curriculum and particularly enjoy being creative, setting up the classroom in all areas of provision for the new half term ahead.

Please take a look at Year 1 class page to see photos of our areas of provision and also current topics.

Mr Richard Crook - Year 2 Class Teacher and member of the Senior Leadership Team

I've been teaching at Barton St. Lawrence since September 2012, working from Year 2 to Year 4. I am currently teaching the children in Year 2.

I am the leader of the outdoor and creative curriculum and am the subject leader for Mathematics and Physical Education.

I currently run the Tag-Rugby club on Tuesday and Thursday and really enjoy taking children to sporting events.

Please take a few moments to take a look at the fantastic work we have been doing in Year 2.

Mrs Harriet Pilling - Year 3 Class Teacher

Mr Tom McKnight - Year 4 Class Teacher

Mr James Davis - Year 5 Class Teacher

I joined Barton St Lawrence School in September 2018 and currently teach Year 5. In previous schools, I have taught Year 3 and Year 4. I lead Computing and History in school.

Within our classroom I hope to foster a learning environment where the children take independence of their own learning and explore subjects in a way that interests them.

While I enjoy teaching all subjects throughout the curriculum, I especially enjoy teaching Maths, Literacy, Science and History. Outside of school I am interested in sport, especially ones involving cars!

Please take a moment to look at Year 5's class page to see what we have been up to recently.

Mrs Andrea Loughran - Year 6 Class Teacher, Deputy Headteacher and SENCO

I have been at Barton St. Lawrence for many years!  I have taught most year groups here from Year 2 onward, but for the last few years, I have mainly taught Years 5 & 6.  I have been extremely proud to have had the opportunity to 'put the cherry on top' of the children's learning here at Barton and I am also extremely proud of all the children's excellent results and accomplishments over the years.  I currently teach Year 6.

My role in school is extremely varied from supporting the Headteacher as Deputy Headteacher, to being Special Needs Coordinator.  My responsibilities within school include coordinating reading, Religious Education and Worship - each of which I have a passion for.

I also have a keen interest in anything sporty or historical!
