CHAIR OF GOVERNORS WELCOME

A very warm welcome to St Lawrence CE Primary School and for considering our school for your childís education. I have been involved with this School for 30 years since my eldest daughter first entered Reception class here. There is a happy and caring family environment around School which has close links to the village of Barton and to St Lawrence CE church.

I am fortunate to work with a very committed and active Governing Board. As well as fulfilling our duties by both supporting and challenging Mrs Goodwin and her team we also enjoy being involved in day-to day activities.

The entire school family works tirelessly in order to maintain the highest possible standards and challenge all of the children to become the best individual they can be.

Of course, visiting a website isnít quite like the real thing and I do hope that you are attracted sufficiently to want to come and see our school in action. I know you will be made most welcome.

Nicki Detko

THE ROLE OF THE GOVERNING BOARD

Our Governing Board has three key roles;

- To provide a strategic direction for the school
- To act as a crticial friend to the school, and
- To hold the school to account for the educational standards it achieves, and the quality of education it provides

All Governors involve themselves actively in the work of the Governing Body and accept a fair share of responsibilities, including service on committies. Each Governor is attached to one area of the curriculum and maintains regular contact with the staff co-ordinator. The Governing body meets, in full, at least once every term, as do all the committees.
